Perfect Pitch Music - EMC Statement

European Commission's Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive 89/336/EEC

The European Commission's EMC Directive 89/336/EEC (Ref.1) is designed to define and enforce manufacturers of electronic equipment - who wish to circulate and sell their equipment within the Single European Market - to ensure that electromagnetic emissions produced by those products be kept to acceptable levels so that bona fide users the electromagnetic spectrum can exploit their allocated portion of the spectrum free from radio or mains-coupled interference. Since some level of electromagnetic emissions is inevitable from any electrical machine and electronic circuit, and because purchasers and users of electronic equipment may reasonably expect the equipment to operate without being unreasonably susceptible to electrical interference, the directive also defines and enforces manufacturers to ensure that their equipment is acceptably immune from specified levels and types of electromagnetic interference. The two complementary issues of acceptable limits on emission on the one hand, and adequate limits of immunity from malfunction within a specified electromagnetic environment on the other are the two key aspects of Electromagnetic Compatibility practices.

The essential requirements of the Directive (Article 4) are that a product or "apparatus" should be so constructed that:

"the electromagnetic disturbance it generates does not exceed a level allowing radio and telecommunications equipment or other apparatus to operate as intended;" and that,

"the apparatus has an adequate level of intrinsic immunity to electromagnetic disturbance to enable it to operate as intended."

Compliance with the essential requirements must be demonstrated by one of two paths; by certification to harmonised standards or via a Technical Construction file. The manufacturer is required to attest that the protection requirements of the Directive have been met by issuing a Declaration of Conformity and affixing a CE mark either to the apparatus, to its packaging or instructions or guarantee certificate.

Perfect Pitch Music has invested heavily in knowledge and equipment to develop and verify equipment to harmonised standards for electromagnetic emission and susceptibility.

All Perfect Pitch products conform to requirements for EMC and (where PSU units are supplied by the manufacturer) to the new Low Voltage Directive (LVD).

Agents and representatives should supply power supply units which are manufactured to the standards appropriate to the region they serve.
